The Wren Chapel, Royal Hospital Chelsea

The Chapel Choir of the Royal Hospital Chelsea gives a performance on the Wednesday of Holy Week of J. S. Bach’s captivating setting of the Passion according to St John. Joined by the specialist baroque orchestral forces of Meridian Sinfonia and tenor Jeremy Budd as Evangelist, all other roles and arias will be taken by members of the critically acclaimed choir. An unmissable occasion: Bach’s St John Passion is one of the supreme masterpieces of sacred music, but it’s also an intensely human story – a drama of turmoil and betrayal, suffering and redemption, that never loses its urgency.

"First-class personnel . . . it's the tension and subtlety in the performances that catch the ear"
