Shop & Post Office Supervisor
Closing date: 13th February 2026
The Royal Hospital Chelsea is looking for an enthusiastic and customer‑focused Shop and Post Office Supervisor to join our Public Engagement team at the Soane Stable Yard visitor centre. Founded in 1682, the Royal Hospital Chelsea is a retirement community for around 300 army veterans, known as the Chelsea Pensioners, drawn from every corner of the United Kingdom. Based in the heart of London, it is a special place defined by community and service.
In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day running of our souvenir shop, Post Office counter and online shop. You will lead a small team of staff, volunteers and Chelsea Pensioners, ensuring excellent customer service, smooth retail operations, and high standards of visual merchandising. You will also manage stock control, support online order fulfilment, and ensure compliance with Post Office protocols. The role includes supporting pop‑up retail during major events such as the Chelsea Flower Show.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with others and takes pride in making a positive difference, leading by example and helping to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone who lives and works here. Experience of working in customer‑focused environments is essential, along with the ability to stay organised and calm under pressure. Confidence in using EPOS and other IT systems is desirable. Experience working within a charity, heritage, or visitor‑attraction setting is an advantage, and full training will be provided for all Post Office procedures.
If you are passionate about delivering great customer experiences, enjoy working in a busy and varied environment, we would love to hear from you.
